Arby's Franchise

This company has been an InSTORE Systems customer since April, 1999 and has been using InSTORE's cost system since January 1, 2000 to fulfill its accounting and reporting needs. With sixty-one Arby's Roast Beef Restaurant locations and a corporate office, Franchise Management Corp. is proud to serve their traditional roast beef sandwich and its newest menu additions including Market Fresh Sandwiches to its customers in the Illinois, Nevada and California areas.

With the volume of business Franchise Management Corp. does every year, it was important that Franchise Management Corp. invested in a SQL accounting system that could handle a large number of small transactions for each of its locations. Bob Nelson, Assistant Controller and CPA wanted a fully featured financial system for the management of Franchise Management Corp.'s operations. Bob being from a financial accounting background, which included nine years in public accounting, required a complete package that included all financial and cost accounting applications.

Utilizing almost all of InSTORE Systems capabilities, Franchise Management Corp. inputs its payroll data by store, inputs all line item detail for its food and beverage purchases through Inventory Purchasing & Receiving, inputs its monthly physical inventory costs, inputs its store to store transfers of inventory, posts waste adjustments, and imports sales item detail and Cash & Sales data for each of its store locations. Utilizing its own proprietary store level software, Franchise Management Corp. transmits each of its store's cash sales and sales item detail via modem to its own ftp site. From the corporate office, Franchise Management Corp. uses its high speed DSL connection to gather and download its sales item detail and Cash & Sales information for each store. Utilizing InSTORE's Cash / Sales and Sales item count modules, Franchise Management Corp. then imports its sales figures into InSTORE's corporate HQ piece. With the combination of InSTORE Systems and Microsoft Accounting (a leading graphical accounting system from Microsoft Great Plains), Franchise Management Corp. is able to produce its Weekly and Monthly reports necessary to manage its financial operations.

Several of InSTORE's reports have been most helpful to Franchise Management Corp.'s management team. Franchise Management Corp.'s marketing director heavily relies on the Sales Mix Reports by market to determine the effects that advertising and promotions have on Franchise Management Corp.'s overall sales mix. InSTORE's inventory variance reports are heavily relied upon for purposes of determining potential areas for improvement on an individual store basis for monitoring individual items actual inventory usage versus standard usage allowance. Franchise Management Corp. uses the inventory variance report as a critical factor in making its Monthly and Quarterly bonus computations for its bonus eligible employees.
